Library Instruction & Information Literacy

Schedule a Library Instruction Session

Library instruction, generally referred to In the higher education community as "Information Literacy Instruction," is a key priority of SSU librarians.

Information literacy competencies begin with the recognition of the need for information and include the processes of locating, evaluating, and utilizing information appropriately, effectively, and efficiently. Clark Memorial Library's Information Literacy Instruction program is informed by the Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education (PDF;1989) and the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education (PDF; 2015), working documents of the Association of College and Research Libraries division of the American Library Association.  The brief guides "Information Literacy for Faculty and Administrators" and "Introduction to Information Literacy" provide an overview.

We welcome the opportunity to visit your classroom to introduce students to the many print and electronic resources available through Clark Memorial Library. Please contact your department liaison to schedule an instruction session.
