Discovery Service

Did your professor say you need articles? Journals, newspapers, and magazines, for example? The Discovery Service is a way to access those types of sources AND SSU books, video clips, conference materials, and more. You will see a big search box in which you can enter search terms on the library's homepage (http://library.shawnee.edu). The first tab, by default, is for Discovery Service:

The Discovery Service is a great place to start your research! Go to https://youtu.be/xbkYa1-CUZ4 for a tutorial.

Collections & Catalogs

To identify items in the Shawnee State Library, you can search the SSU Classic Catalog.

Did you know you can search for an item in the SSU catalog and pass the search through to OhioLINK? When searching in the SSU catalog select the "Search OhioLINK" button.

OhioLINK

OhioLINK is one of our most popular services. Through it, you can request books from other universities in Ohio, greatly expanding the number of titles available to you. If you don't want to access OhioLINK through the SSU catalog, you can also search directly in the OhioLINK Catalog.

Once you find what you're looking for, simply click on the title, and determine if there are available copies on the next page. If there are, click the Request button, fill in your name and university ID number, and submit. The book will be delivered to Clark Memorial Library and you will receive an email once it's ready to be picked up.

See OhioLINK's Frequently Asked Questions for questions about borrowing items from the OhioLINK Central Catalog.

Check out our YouTube Video Finding Books in the Classic Catalog and OhioLINK for guidance.

Interlibrary Loan

If there's a specific title you need and you can't get it through our collection or through OhioLINK, Interlibrary Loan is the next step. You can fill out an Interlibrary Loan form. Once we receive your form, we will try to get the book from another library, and notify you when it has arrived.

Check Your Library Record

You can check your library record online to confirm what is checked out, due dates, or renew items.
