Persistent URLs and Off Campus Access

We encourage you to include library resources into your Blackboard or Wiley site. In order for students to link successfully you must use a proxied or persistent link. Linking content allows the uses to be counted in our statistics, and provides evidence of use to help us justify the resources.

A persistent link (aka PermaLink) is a direct link to the specific electronic resource, that will not change. All of our content provides persistent links, please see the example below.

You may see a “Share” function in an article like below.

Here’s an example of a persistent link that appears in “Copy Link”

https://search.credoreference.com/articles/Qm9va0FydGljbGU6NjE0NjAw?summaryArticle=true&aid=19208

To ensure students can access the article using the persistent link/permalink from both on and off campus, an article’s link must include the proxy prefix. The highlighted text below shows the information that allows our students and staff to be recognized by our servers.

http://login.proxy01.shawnee.edu/login?url=https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=edshol&AN=edshol.hein.journals.arz62.25&site=eds-live&scope=site

Many article databases, including Discovery Service and other EBSCOhost products, include the proxy preface when you click “permalink” or “persistent link”. In Discovery Service/EBSCOhost databases, the permalink is found at the bottom of the right sidebar under “Tools”. It INCLUDES the proxy prefix.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT use the URL in your browser address bar as the URL. That is specific to your session and will create an error message if you use that link.

If you have an unproxied link, just use the form below to add the proxy.

If you have any questions, please contact a librarian.

1. Copy and paste your source URL here:
2. Click Create link button below:
3. Copy and paste the resulting link into Blackboard:
