Instruction

The librarians are eager to work with you and incorporate information literacy instruction in your classes. Information literacy instruction is a priority for the library, as understanding the many sides of information will help students academically as well as in their careers and as a member of society. Instruction is based on the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. In addition to developing traditional research skills, students can learn about the reflective and responsible use and production of information. Librarians also are available to help you develop assignments that incorporate information literacy.

To schedule an instruction session, fill out the "Schedule Library Instruction" form on the library homepage.

For help developing assignments, contact your liaison librarian.

Find your liaison librarian under the "Liaison Librarians by Subject" tab on the left.

Online Library Instruction

Librarians can also provide instruction online.

  • Synchronous instruction via Collaborate.
  • Embedded in your Blackboard class sites and participate in various ways, such as monitoring a discussion thread for library-related questions.
  • A YouTube channel that provides short videos to help students use library resources. See the box below for links to the channel and videos. Feel free to include any of these links in your courses' Blackboard sites.
