Course Reserves

Faculty can place personal items and/or library materials (including textbooks) on reserve for their courses. Please complete the Course Reserve Request Form (see link below) to place items on reserve below.

Course reserves are very popular with students and we welcome the opportunity to work with faculty to provide course materials. Librarians are happy to help you identify materials suitable for course reserves.

Course reserve check out periods range from 7 days - 2 Hour Textbook Reserve, but most are library use only.

Open Education Resources

As you know, costs for college students' textbooks and other course materials are high and, for many, unaffordable. In an effort to remedy that, Open Education Resources are an option for you as you develop and/or re-evaluate courses. The Hewlett Foundation defines open education resources as: "high-quality teaching, learning, and research materials that are free for people everywhere to use and repurpose."*

OhioLINK, the academic library consortium in which SSU is a member, has a series of  initiatives aimed at helping Ohio college students afford their course materials -- "Affordable Learning Ohio." Please go to its website (below) for information on the initiatives, including a database of affordable learning course materials.

If you are interested in the use of open education resources in your courses, please contact your liaison librarian. They can work with you to find resources that fit your course objectives.
